Strengthen the aid you provide before, during and after disasters

The Framework is an evolving guide that provides tools and pathways to make your humanitarian support more impactful. It has been piloted in contexts like Haiti, the Philippines, and Ukraine. With dynamic tools for coordination across groups and geographic areas, the Framework is designed for you to adapt to your communities' needs and more effectively help those who need it most.
The Framework was developed in partnership with Haiti Renewal Alliance through Phases I and II with funding from the USAID Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance.

Diasporas provide incredible added value to addressing humanitarian needs on the ground in their communities of origin.

As the world struggles with a global health pandemic that threatens to hit already vulnerable systems, it is clearer than ever that we need to mobilize the contributions of all partners to boost the resilience of communities and countries in different sectors, from health and education to shelter and protection.

Although the humanitarian community has reached a better understanding of the added value that diaspora engagement could bring to preparedness, response and recovery matters, it becomes crucial to ensure that this engagement takes place in an inclusive, effective and systematic manner to maximize impact and achieve scalability.

Led by IOM, with funding from USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA) and implemented in partnership with the Diaspora Emergency Action & Coordination (DEMAC) initiative of the Danish Refugee Council, this project seeks to build on decades of existing research and work to determine how to further strengthen diasporas’ engagement for more effective humanitarian assistance

There has never been a more opportune moment to better explore the meaningful cooperation that can derive from this engagement to deliver more effective, comprehensive and sustainable assistance to populations in need.
